Walker, Cornish and Casson commit to the club
Ealing Trailfinders are pleased to announce that Alun Walker, Matt Cornish and Harry Casson will all remain with the club for the 2018/19 season.
The three players are key components to the squad and have been a huge part of the set-piece which has given the club the platform to sit second in the Greene King IPA Championship.
Alun Walker’s ability in the front row of the scrum has seen him become one of the most dominant players in the division. The Scot has scored 18 tries so far this campaign, putting him amongst the top scorers after one of the best campaigns of his career.
Matt Cornish has come through the club’s academy and is now a regular in the match day squad. After working on his line-out throwing as well as his big ball carrying he has crossed the try-line three times this season.
Harry Casson has taken on plenty of extra responsibilities this season with lineout calling, and the second-rower has also captained the team three times. Casson will enter his third season with the Trailfinders and look to keep making his mark with the set-piece his strongest asset.
Director of Rugby Ben Ward is pleased to have three more key components of his squad secured for next season.
“Alun has been one of our top performers this year and his set-piece is up there with the best in the league. He offers a lot in open play as well which has been shown by the amount of tries he has scored for us. With over 50 appearances for the club his experience is crucial and he is well respected within the squad.
Matt is developing in to a great player and after coming through our academy he has been a real find for us. He is explosive around the park and makes a real impact off the bench, so his next step will be to push for the starting shirt week in week out.
Harry has been a very important player for us this season and has improved a lot. He is a key part of our structure on a match day particularly in the lineout which has functioned very well throughout the year, so we’re looking forward to seeing him advance more over the next year.”
