Three changes for Ealing Trailfinders ahead of Jersey test
Ealing Trailfinders have made three changes to their starting line-up as they look to get back to winning ways against Jersey Reds at Vallis Way tomorrow afternoon.
Ben Ward’s side suffered defeat for the first time this season at Ashton Gate last weekend which saw them drop to second in the Greene King IPA Championship table, and they will aim to make it five wins from the first six matches ahead of the British and Irish Cup getting underway next weekend.
Harry Casson and Arthur Ellis both make their first starts of the season in the pack, with Ellis making his 70th appearance for the club whilst Joe Munro comes back in to the starting line-up at inside centre.
Will Davis, Alun Walker and Lewis Thiede continue their front-row partnership which functioned impressively against Bristol last Sunday, with a new second-row pairing of Harry Casson and Barney Maddison. Andrew Durutalo moves to the blindside to accommodate Arthur Ellis, with Mark Bright captaining the side from number-eight.
Luke Carter and Aaron Penberthy will look to to control the tempo of the match from their half-back positions, with Joe Munro and Piers O’Conor’s centre partnership reinstated. The coaches have decided to start with an unchanged back-three of Seb Stegmann, Miles Mantella and Peter Lydon.
There are four changes to the replacements with the bench aiming to make a big impact in front of their own supporters.
Matt Cornish, Djustice Sears Duru and Sam Rodman offer a front-row alternative, with Llewelyn Jones and Rayn Smid covering the rest of the pack. Scrum-half Calum Waters and the versatile Lewis Robling complete the match day squad.
Prop Will Davis says the squad are determined to make a positive response to last weekend’s narrow defeat.
“We’ve all come in refreshed and set this game as a target to round off this block of matches before the British and Irish Cup. We want to make Vallis Way a fortress this season.”
