Programme Preview: Barney Maddison prepares to face former team - and brother!
Barney Maddison faces the unique scenario of not only taking on his former club, but also coming up against his brother Charlie as we enter Round 17 of the Greene King IPA Championship against Rotherham Titans.
The second-rower spent five years with the Clifton Lane outfit, and says he always relishes meeting the Titans.
“I always enjoy playing against Rotherham and still have an excellent relationship with everyone up there. I had a great time playing there and look forward to catching up with them after the game.”
The 29-year-old admitted that initially facing his brother was an unusual experience, but after a number of battles in recent years the biggest challenge is for their parents who watch from the sidelines.
“It used to be strange a while ago but we’ve played against each other quite a few times now so have got used to it. It’s more difficult for our parents who don’t particularly enjoy it!”
