Former professional rugby player Ross Doneghan appointed as Head of Community

Ealing Trailfinders and Sports In Schools are delighted to announce the appointment of former professional player and current Head of Schools’ programme at Harlequins, Ross Doneghan, as the Head of Community of the newly formed department.

Doneghan has an impressive coaching CV that has seen him work with the very best schools across London and beyond and has a real passion for the growth of the sport.

Ross commented: “I am extremely excited to be working with Ealing Trailfinders and Sports In Schools in heading up the newly formed community department. Growth in numbers and support in rugby union is something I feel very passionate about and I can’t wait to get started.

There are over 80,000 people across the Ealing borough that we want to engage with as well as some fantastic schools. The time is right for Ealing Trailfinders to have a presence within the community through coaching initiatives. I have sat with Matt Price from Sports In Schools and looked at what Ealing Trailfinders community can offer and it is a lot!

From working with local businesses to coaching within schools to supporting local groups and of course engaging with the local community in showcasing what the club has to offer. It’s all very exciting!”

On the appointment the Managing Director of Sports In Schools, Matt Price said “With Ross’s appointment we feel we have the perfect individual to lead the community department at Ealing Trailfinders.

Ross will work closely with our other heads of communities at our other partnering clubs to ensure we are offering the very best in engagement for the community. Ross’s background in working with some of the very best schools locally also is a big plus and we are looking forward to welcoming him in.”

The community department will be running a May Half Term Camp at Vallis Way for children from 5 – 15 years old as part of the first initiatives from the community department. Details will be out shortly but in the meantime if you would like to know more please email community@etprm.com
