Carter looking to keep momentum going at Headingley
Ealing Trailfinders will be looking for a repeat of their Greene King IPA Championship play-off semi-final win this weekend and scrum half Luke Carter hopes they can maintain their recent psychological edge over Yorkshire Carnegie.
The Trailfinders were beaten 34-16 at home in the first leg of last season’s two leg play-off match but won by two points at Headingley in the second leg, and again earlier this season.
And while that was not enough to secure a final place against London Irish, it did give the Trailfinders all-important momentum which they’ve carried on into this campaign.
Carter and his team beat Carnegie 44-19 earlier in the campaign and are second in the Championship table ahead of another big meeting between them this weekend.
“We started to turn them towards the end of the season when by winning the second leg of the play-off at Headingley, so we are confident we can go up there and do a job,” he said.
“It should be a good one. We've had a lot of good battles with them in the last two seasons.
“We played them in the play-offs last year and the British & Irish Cup, home and away, so we played them six times last year and we know them very well.”
The Trailfinders sit second in the Greene King IPA Championship with five rounds still to play, 21 points in front of Sunday's opponents.
